Mark Brown Wins TPCR Feature
TPCR PR, Sydney Aust. December 13, 2008 - Mark Brown, driving for Mike Rinkin Racing, returned to the main event winner’s circle when he took out the speedcar feature race after a great battle with West Aussie Dene McAllan.
Jason Gates filled the runner-up spot, while McAllan was third in a 20-lap feature race that was excitement-plus from start to finish.
Peter Bourke and Richard Malouf disputed the lead in the early laps of the speedcar feature before McAllan swooped on the two front runners and blasted into the lead.
Brown followed McAllan through the traffic and when the two cleared the traffic they settled down for their own private battle at the head of the field.
McAllan and Brown enjoyed a full straightaway advantage over the rest of the field.
A yellow light slowed the action for a spin that almost brought Brown’s race undone.
However, Brown resumed the chase after McAllan at the green and took over the front running with a neat pass.
McAllan fought back and continued to take the race right up to Brown, however he lost any chance of regaining the lead when he slewed sideways entering the back straight and dropped back to third.
At the chequered flag it was Brown from Jason Gates and McAllan in yet another highly entertaining speedcar main event at TPCR.
McAllan was the star of the speedcar heats with two slashing victories, however the best speedcar heat of the night was heat three which featured an exciting battle at the top of the field between Malouf, Bright and Brown who ultimately took the victory.
At one point the three drivers ran side-by-side before Brown asserted his authority. The other speedcar heat was won by Peter Bourke.
