Michael Kendall Shines at Stratford Speedway
By Eric Beardmore, Stratford NZ, November 15, 2008 - The Midgets had their second outing of the Season on 15th November at Stratford Speedway on a smooth slick track.
Auckland visitor Michael Kendall had his best night of the 08/09 season to date with 3 wins from a field of 11 cars. Good wheel drive in the first race saw him lap consistently under the benchmark 15 secs but as the surface dried out the times dropped back to the other side of the mark.
Greg Jones was the outstanding Stratford driver on the night with 2 thirds and a second, followed closely my Mark Willans and Ricky Paul. Jimmy Greenhough drove the Autocraft to 3 smooth finishes and newcomer Carl Mehring in the Renault consistently pulled his lap times down as the night went on.
The only upset of the night was for Steve Paul in the first race when the cushion sucked him in and the concrete spat him out upside down in turn 1. No damage to the driver but the car could not continue.
Midgets race again at Stratford next Saturday 22 November
