Brown Is A Speedcar Spectacular

Mark Brown stormed to victory tonight to claim Murray Bridge Speedway’s inaugural World 40 Lap Speedcar Spectacular ahead of West Aussie hard charger Dene McAllan, Sydney hot-shot Darren Jenkins and Victorian Wild Child Harley Bishop before a packed South Australian crowd.
Qualifying from pole after a vicious bout of wheel to wheel pole shuffles, Brown took an early lead from McAllan; the duo speeding away from the field with what looked to be another round in the well documented Brown vs McAllan healthy on-track rivalry.
Hitting a group of lapped traffic only 18 laps in, Brown went to the highline for the outside pass allowing McAllan to shoot into the lead on the low line. But Browndog wasn’t going down without a fight, reclaiming the lead with fifteen laps remaining. Despite McAllan’s attempts over the remainder of the race, Brown took the chequers to win the inaugural World 40 Lap Speedcar Spectacular ahead of McAllan, Darren Jenkins, Harley Bishop, New Zealand’s Shaun Insley and Sydney’s Matt Young.
Incidents marring a sensational event saw the spectacular last corner roll from local Colin Brooks and earlier in the A Main, from NSW front runner Tony Abson. Tony, who made contact with another car entering turn 1, was sent into a series of vicious barrel rolls before impacting heavily into the concrete wall. After careful extraction, Tony was sent to hospital as a precautionary measure. Murray Bridge Speedway passes on its best wishes to Tony for a quick recovery.
